A Breed Apart is a 2025 American horror action film directed by Griff Furst and Nathan Furst from a screenplay by Bob Conte, Griff Furst, and Nathan Furst. The film is set to be released in the United States on May 16, 2025.
The film is an intense drama with elements of a thriller that takes us to a remote island where survival is not just an instinct — it's a way of life.
The story follows the mysterious hermit Jacob, a former soldier with a dark past, who lives alone, far from civilization. His mission is to protect the last remaining population of rare birds of prey, threatened with extinction. A young and ambitious biologist, Megan, arrives on the island, wanting to study these birds, but without suspecting that she is entering a world of harsh rules, dangers and unspoken secrets.
Tensions rise between Jacob and Megan as their differing philosophies clash over how to protect nature and what true sacrifice means. But soon the threat comes not from the wild, but from man: a ruthless hunter and poacher is on their trail, determined to capture the rare birds for a fortune.
As events unfold, Jacob is forced to confront not only this new danger, but also his own demons—traumas from the past and guilt he has carried for years. As nature rages around them, the people also find themselves caught up in their own instincts for survival, betrayal, and redemption.
„A powerful story about the limits of faith, the struggle to protect what you love, and the cost of true loneliness, A Breed Apart is a film that reminds us that some battles are as ancient and primal as nature itself.
