Rock Forever (2012)

Rock of Ages

Rock forever (Rock of Ages() is a 2012 American romantic comedy musical film directed by Adam Shankman from a screenplay by Justin Theroux, Chris A'Arienzo, and Alan Loeb. The film was released in the United States on June 15, 2012.

„Rock forever“" is an explosive rock musical directed by Adam Shankman - the man behind the colorful euphoria of "„Hairspray“" (2007). The film is an adaptation of the popular Broadway musical of the same name and is a loud, glamorous and fun journey to the golden era of rock - the 80s.

This is a story of dreams, love, music and rebellion – told through the greatest rock hits of generations.

The year is 1987. Young Sherry (Julianne Hough) arrives in Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming a singer. She immediately falls into the legendary Bourbon Room, run by Dennis (Alec Baldwin) and his colorful sidekick Looney (Russell Brand).

There she meets Drew (Diego Boneta) – a nice bartender and a budding musician who also dreams of fame. Love flares up between them, but the world of rock does not forgive easily. Stacy Jax himself (Tom Cruise) – a mythical rock idol whose eccentricity and fall are a symbol of the decline of an era.

While the characters sing, love, and fight for their dreams, a wave of moral outrage rises over Los Angeles, led by religious activist Patricia Whitmore (Catherine Zeta-Jones), determined to "purge" the city of sinful music.

Adam Shankman turns the film into a true visual feast – neon, leather, smoke, makeup and guitars.
Each scene is like a music video – with carefully choreographed movements, dynamic lighting, and an atmosphere that overflows with energy.

Shankman manages to balance between parody and homage – „Rock forever“" doesn't take itself too seriously, but at the same time pays loving homage to the era when MTV and rock ruled the world.

The soundtrack is the heart of the film – and it's full of timeless rock anthems:
“"Don't Stop Believin'" (Journey)
“"Wanted Dead or Alive" (Bon Jovi)
“"Here I Go Again" (Whitesnake)
“"Pour Some Sugar on Me" (Def Leppard)
“"We Built This City" (Starship)

Each song is integrated into the story, making it part of the narrative - the characters express their emotions, dreams, and conflicts through music.

„Rock forever“" is a crazy, loud and infectiously funny musical that pays homage to the golden years of rock. This is not a film about realism, but about feeling - about youth, the stage, self-belief and love that "sounds loud".

With colors, brilliant costumes, an incredible soundtrack and a stellar cast, "„Rock forever“" is the perfect escape for anyone who has ever sung with a microphone brush and believed that rock would never die.
