Mega beast (The Meg) is a 2018 American horror film directed by John Turtletaub written by Dean Giorgaris. The film premieres in the United States on August 10, 2018.
Five years ago, specialist diver and sea captain Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) encounters an unknown danger in the uncharted waters of the Mariana Trench, forcing him to abandon his mission and leave half of his team behind. The tragic incident brings him notoriety and dismissal from his post, which leads to the collapse of his career and marriage.
However, he does not give up on his claim about the cause of the incident - an attack by a huge sea creature, believed to have become extinct over a million years ago. However, when a submarine is damaged and left lying on the ocean floor with his wife on board, he receives a call.
Whether it's an attempt at redemption or a suicide mission, Jonas must face his fears and risk his own life to find the answer to one question: Is it possible that the largest marine predator that ever existed is still alive and hunting?
The film is based on Steve Alton's 1997 fantasy novel "„Meg: A Novel of Horror in the Depths“" (Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror).
