Evil Dead Burn (2026)
„Evil Dead Burn“" is the sixth film in the legendary horror series "„The Evil Dead“" and the third standalone sequel after "„The Evil Dead“" (2013) and "„Evil Dead: Awakening“" (2023). The director is French horror talent Sébastien Vanichek, who caught the attention of genre fans with the film "„Infested“" (2023). Even before its premiere, the production earned a reputation as one of the most brutal and uncompromising parts in the entire series, with the director himself revealing that certain scenes had to be cut in order for the film to receive a standard theatrical release.
The story takes place far from the urban setting of the previous film and takes us to an isolated family home. After the death of her husband, a woman seeks solace among her late partner's relatives. However, the family gathering quickly turns into a nightmare when an ancient evil force begins to possess the attendees one by one. Soon the home becomes a trap, and the fight for survival becomes increasingly desperate. As the title suggests, fire plays an important role in the atmosphere and visual identity of the film, as the story explores themes such as grief, family bonds and promises that survive death.
Sebastian Vanicek approaches the material with great respect for Sam Raimi's legacy, while also striving to bring his own style. From the very first shots, it is clear that this will not be a horror film that relies solely on sudden startling moments. Instead, the director builds tension gradually and relies on a sense of hopelessness and physical horror. According to early reactions and previews, the film is among the bloodiest titles in the history of the series.
In the lead role is Suheila Yacoub, who plays a woman caught in the middle of a supernatural nightmare. The actress, known to the general public from "„Dune: Part Two“(2023), was chosen for her ability to combine physical endurance and emotional vulnerability – qualities that are particularly important for this type of character.
Among the other actors, the following stand out: Hunter Doone, Lucian Buchanan и Thandie Wright, who form the main family group around the main character. Errol Shand, Maud Davy и George Pullar also participate in the story, each of them finding themselves part of the increasingly sinister family tragedy.
Visually "„Evil Dead Burn“" seems like a natural continuation of the modern transformation of the series. Instead of the more comedic tone of the early films, the emphasis here is on raw horror, body transformation, and a sense of constant threat. According to the trailers presented and the official information, the film aims to offer the most intense and brutal experience in the history of the franchise.
Although at the time of its release the critical reviews were still accumulating, "„Evil Dead Burn“" already seems like a title that perfectly understands what fans of the series expect - a lot of tension, ruthless creatures (Deadites), impressive practical effects and uncompromising horror. If the film manages to fulfill its promises, it has every chance of ranking among the strongest modern parts of the cult saga.
