Hand of Justice (literal translation: The hand of justice; also known as Hand of Justice | Hand of Justice) is a 2026 Serbian historical thriller film directed by Nemanja Ceranic, with co-director Nebojsa Pajkic. The script is by Mirko Stojkovic, Strahinja Madjarevich и Nebojsa Pajkic. The film combines historical drama and spy plot, inspired by real events related to the assassination attempt against Ante Pavelic after World War II.
In the 1950s Blagoje Jovovich lives in Buenos Aires, where he is trying to build a new life, develop his business and plan his wedding. A chance encounter with a man wearing the symbol of the Ustasha movement awakens painful memories of the war. When he learns that Ante Pavelic Hiding in the Argentine capital under state protection, Blagoje decides to seek revenge himself. With the help of a close friend and Mossad agent, he begins to prepare a dangerous operation that tests his beliefs and his ideas of justice.
The direction of Nemanja Ceranic places the personal story of the protagonist in the context of post-war Europe and the fate of people who continued their lives far from their homeland. The historical basis gives weight to the narrative, and the spy elements bring tension and a sense of constant danger. The action in Buenos Aires allows us to explore the clash between the seemingly calm everyday life and the irresistible desire to settle accounts with the past. Thus Hand of Justice focuses not only on historical facts, but also on the moral dilemmas that arise when a person decides to carry out a sentence that, in his opinion, has remained unfulfilled.
Alexander Gavranich plays the lead role of Blagoje Jovovich, and Zlatan Vidovic is reincarnated as his friend Jacob. Other participants include Tamara Ristoska, Igor Boroevich, Samuel Finzi, Mladen Nelevich, Lucas Ferrero, Miodrag Krchmarik, Sladjana Zrnic и Jovan Savic. The cast combines familiar names from Serbian cinema with international performers, which suits the story, which takes place in a different cultural and political environment. The central character is a man torn between the desire for a normal life and the feeling that the past does not allow him to move forward.
Hand of Justice is a proposal for viewers who like historical films, spy stories and dramas based on real events. The plot examines themes such as the memory of war, personal responsibility and the line between justice and revenge. Instead of relying solely on the political context, the production focuses on the choice of a person facing a difficult moral decision.
