„Victim“ (Sacrifice) is a British-Greek-American action comedy film with elements of adventure, satire, and fantasy, directed by Romain Gavras, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Will Arbery. The film has its world premiere on September 6, 2025. at the Toronto International Film Festival, and its American premiere is scheduled for October 16, 2026. on Netflix. The production was also filmed in Bulgaria and represents Gavras' English-language feature debut.
The story unfolds during a lavish charity gala, gathering celebrities, billionaires and influential people. Among the guests is film star Mike Tyler, whose career is gradually declining and who is desperately trying to restore his public image. The situation changes dramatically when a radical group, led by the mysterious Joan, invades the event. She and her followers are convinced that an ancient prophecy is connected to the future of humanity and that the only way to prevent a catastrophe is to make a sacrifice. Mike and other guests find themselves involved in an absurd and increasingly dangerous situation, in which the line between spectacle, religious faith and real threat gradually disappears.
In the lead role Chris Evans takes on the role of Mike Tyler, an actor in crisis who tries to use every opportunity to regain his fame. The character is both comical and tragic, as his desire to be the center of attention again puts him in a situation that goes far beyond anything he could have foreseen. Anya Taylor-Joy plays Joan – a radical and committed woman whose behavior gradually reveals a much more complex motivation.
Vincent Cassel builds the image of Ben Bracken – a charismatic and extremely wealthy man who becomes one of the central players in the chaos. Salma Hayek has the role of Gloria Bracken, and among the other actors are John Malkovich, Ambika Maud, Sam Richardson, Yung Lean, Charlie X C.X, Jade Krut, Miriam Silverman и Jeremy O. Harris.
