Far, far away (Far and Away) is a 1992 American romantic adventure drama film directed by Ron Howard from a screenplay by Bob Dolman and the director himself. It premiered in the United States on May 22, 1992. The film follows the journey of two Irish immigrants who seek a new life in America in the late 19th century.

After his family loses their land, young Irishman Joseph Donnelly decides to seek justice from wealthy landowner Daniel Christie. There he meets his daughter Shannon, who dreams of leaving the limited world of her surroundings and starting over in America. The two set off together, hoping to earn enough money to buy their own land. However, their new life proves to be much more difficult than expected, confronting them with poverty, hard work, and rivalry, as their feelings gradually change.

Ron Howard builds an adventure story that moves from the green Irish landscapes to the bustling American cities and the vast lands of the West. The director combines the romantic line with the theme of social growth and the pursuit of property in a period of great change. A particularly important part of the film is the recreation of the historical atmosphere surrounding the settlement of the American West, including the competition for land acquisition in Oklahoma. Thus, the personal journey of the characters also becomes a story about the hopes of people seeking a better future far from their homeland.

Tom Cruise plays the role of Joseph Donnelly and portrays a character who gradually changes under the pressure of his new environment. Nicole Kidman is Shannon Christie, a determined young woman who doesn't want her destiny to be determined by her background and marital status. The chemistry between the two actors adds energy to the romantic story, and Thomas Gibson и Robert Prosky complement the conflict with the images of people whose interests clash with those of the main characters. The supporting cast also includes Barbara Babcock, Cyril Cusack и Colm Meaney.

Far, far away is a romantic adventure about ambition, freedom and the willingness to risk everything for a better life. The film combines a love story with a historical scale and shows how difficult it can be to make a dream come true when reality turns out to be harsher than expectations. With its beautiful landscapes, dynamic scenes and central acting duo, the production offers a fascinating look at the emigrant experience and the desire for one's own home.
